Position Overview
The Internship Coordinator Assistant supports the Internship Coordinator in facilitating
onboarding and ongoing coordination of interns across the organization. The role
assists with intern scheduling and reporting, maintains communication with Career
Development Centers, supports promotion of internship opportunities, and manages
internship records.

The Internship Coordinator Assistant plays an important role in ensuring smooth day-to-
day operations of the internship program while supporting interns, schools, and internal

teams. The position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication
abilities, and an interest in supporting professional growth for students and emerging
professionals.

Key Responsibilities
Intern Onboarding Support
Assist with the implementation of the onboarding process for incoming interns.
Coordinate orientation sessions to familiarize interns with organizational policies,
procedures, and culture.
Prepare onboarding materials and ensure interns receive the necessary
resources.
Serve as a point of contact for intern questions during onboarding and escalate
concerns as needed.
Communication with Career Development Centers
Support relationships with Career Development Centers at universities and
colleges.
Share internship opportunities, application requirements, and deadlines with
Career Development Centers.
Respond to inquiries from Career Development Centers and students regarding
internship opportunities.

Provide logistical and administrative support related to school partnerships.
Maintain and manage GKC’s presence on Handshake, including internship
postings, listing updates, and responses to student and institution inquiries.
Event and Outreach Support
Assist with preparation for internship and career fairs, networking events, and
outreach opportunities.
Support promotion of internship opportunities at events as directed by the
Internship Coordinator.
Gather materials, track contacts, and follow up with potential candidates and
partners.
Support efforts to strengthen partnerships with educational institutions and
community organizations.
Support community engagement efforts, including participation in Love Does
visits, fostering meaningful connections, and identifying potential internship
partnership opportunities.
Intern Support and Coordination
Serve as a secondary point of contact for interns throughout their internship
experience.
Assist with scheduling check-ins, trainings, and professional development
opportunities for interns.
Collect feedback from site supervisors regarding intern performance and
progress.
Support documentation, reporting, and communication required by schools and
academic programs.
Coordinate networking or learning opportunities for interns.
Ensure each intern is engaged in meaningful, hands-on work reflecting real-world
experience and contributing to professional growth.
Customize internship experiences based on individual student skill sets, interests,
and academic requirements.
Program Support and Evaluation

Collect feedback from interns, supervisors, and Career Development Centers.
Track internship data, records, and key program metrics.
Identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for program improvement.
Maintain organized and up-to-date internship records and files.
Support additional projects and tasks to strengthen and grow the internship
program.
Maintain consistent and accurate data entry and engagement tracking within
GKC’s CRM, especially related to internship partnerships and school
relationships.
Support coordination and administration of the FeedBHM Junior Board, including
recruitment, onboarding, meeting preparation, agenda management,
communications, and follow-through on action items.
Contribute to special projects and evolving priorities supporting growth,
effectiveness, and innovation of the internship program.

Qualifications
Previous experience in administrative support, internship programs, student
services, or talent development preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with
students, staff, and external partners.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management
skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Interest in supporting student development and workforce readiness.
Initiative and creative problem-solving, with the ability to think outside the box in
developing and enhancing internship experiences.

The Internship Coordinator Assistant plays a valuable support role in strengthening the
internship program and contributing to positive experiences for interns and partner
institutions. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in workforce
development, nonprofit operations, and student engagement.
