Position Overview
Grace Klein Community is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Volunteer and Serve
Team Assistant to support the Volunteer and Serve Team Coordinator in recruiting,
organizing, and managing volunteers and Serve Teams. The Assistant will play a key
role in ensuring volunteers are engaged, equipped, and empowered to make a positive
impact within our community.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment Support
Assist in implementing strategies to recruit volunteers from diverse backgrounds and
skill sets.
Support outreach efforts through social media, community events, and volunteer
fairs to attract potential volunteers.
Create Instagram stories daily of quick interviews with volunteers and staff to help
tell the story.
Take pictures of day-to-day operations with volunteers serving and post to the
FeedBHM WhatsApp group.
Collaborate with the Coordinator to promote volunteer opportunities and raise
awareness of Grace Klein Community’s mission.
Volunteer Onboarding and Training Assistance
Clearly communicate volunteer expectations upon arrival to ensure everyone
understands their role and tasks for the day.
Offer volunteers relevant Grace Klein Community materials based on their interests.
Support efforts to keep volunteer guidelines and expectations clearly posted and up
to date at onsite locations.
Volunteer Coordination Support
Assist in scheduling volunteers for shifts and assignments based on organizational
needs.
Help maintain communication with volunteers through WhatsApp regarding updates
and opportunities.
Support efforts to foster a positive and supportive volunteer environment.

Serve Team Support
Support the Coordinator in identifying opportunities for specialized serve teams.
Lead weekend serve teams as needed.
Maintain updated Serve Team forms with the current needs of locations.
Data Management Assistance
Maintain accurate records of volunteer information and hours.
Assist in generating reports and analytics to evaluate volunteer engagement.
FeedBHM Hoover and Liberty Drive-thru Operations
Assist with coordinating and leading volunteers supporting FeedBHM Hoover
operations.
Guide volunteers in placing rescued food items in appropriate storage locations.
Support volunteers in correctly packing food items and boxes for distribution.
Assist with volunteer coordination during Liberty Drive-Thru operations.
Assist volunteers in food preservation processes, including inspecting produce and
sorting items.
Ensure flowers are consolidated and prepared for transport.
Engage volunteers in making flower arrangements for Love Does efforts.
Support the Love Does initiative by ensuring designated items are set aside and
branded.
Assist with logging incoming donation items and communicating with the COH team.
Help ensure smooth workflow during volunteer shifts.
Engage volunteers in completing end-of-day cleaning and reset tasks.
Help ensure food handling areas remain organized and compliant with sanitation
expectations.
Work Environment & Maintenance
All staff are responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of their workspace, including:
Basic daily tidying and organization

Taking out trash and recyclables
Ensuring shared equipment is left clean after use
Reporting maintenance or sanitation concerns
Maintaining a clean and safe environment for volunteers and guests
Qualifications
Previous experience in volunteer coordination or community engagement is a plus.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Passion for community service and empowering others.
Spanish-speaking / bilingual preferred but not required.
Additional Requirements
Flexibility to assist with evening or weekend volunteer activities.
Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
