Biologics Coordinator

Job Summary:
Clinically minded, task-oriented, self-motivated team member to assist with incoming faxes, medication approvals/appeals, phone triage, and back-office workflow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage prior authorization submissions for biological and other prescriptions in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for working with payors, drug manufacturers, and patients to see that patient receives their prescriptions.
  • Communicate status of authorizations and results to patient and clinical care team.
  • Assist with medical necessity and/or appeal letters.
  • Assist with developing and implementing prior authorization work flows, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines.
  • Maintains knowledge of practice management, electronic medical records, and other computer software as it relates to job requirements.
  • Assist with interoffice surgical procedure scheduling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver license
  • Minimum of two years medical office experience

Skills:

  • Familiarity with insurance: medical and prescription benefits. Knowledge of prior authorizations and how to obtain them. Comfortable using email, word processing, and interacting with Internet application
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records software. ModMed, Cover My Meds and IPledge is a plus.

Ability to perform multiple and diverse task simultaneously-with accuracy and efficiency. Strong written and communication skills.

  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience. Must be able to demonstrate leadership by serving as an example to others with regard to professional behavior, handling multiple tasks, maintaining a positive attitude, and in response to organizational change.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Must be able to learn new software quickly.
  • Must possess excellent leadership, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, board, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time; must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
