ASC Nurse Manager – Registered Nurse
Location: Birmingham, AL
Salary Range: $80K - $105K (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Position Overview
TriaVision, a leading ophthalmology group, is seeking a skilled and motivated ASC Nurse Manager to
lead the clinical team at our ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in Birmingham, AL. This is an on-floor
working manager position, requiring an experienced RN who is comfortable providing direct patient care
while also overseeing daily clinical operations. The Nurse Manager will play a key role in ensuring safe,
efficient, and high-quality surgical care in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
• Actively participate in patient care across pre-op, intra-op, and post-op areas while serving as a
clinical leader and resource for the team.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surgeon preferences and procedural needs to optimize surgical
flow and patient outcomes.
• Assess, plan, implement, and coordinate patient care from admission to discharge, ensuring
alignment with physician direction and patient safety standards.
Team Oversight & Development
• Lead and support the clinical team, including RNs and surgical technologists, promoting
accountability, collaboration, and excellence in care delivery.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to clinical staff; participate in hiring,
onboarding, training, and scheduling of clinical team members.
• Foster a positive team culture focused on patient-centered care and operational efficiency.
Operations & Compliance
• Oversee day-to-day clinical operations of the ASC, ensuring optimal staffing, workflow, and
coordination.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards including CMS, AAAHC, OSHA,
and state-specific requirements.
• Ensure proper implementation of sterile processing procedures, infection control policies, and
risk management protocols.
• Verify that all medical staff credentials, licensures, and required certifications remain current and
in compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
Collaboration & Communication
• Partner with surgeons, the Medical Director, the Clinical Director, and leadership team members
to coordinate surgical scheduling and resolve clinical challenges.
• Serve as a liaison between the clinical team and physicians to ensure seamless communication
and satisfaction.
• Collaborate closely with the adjacent TriaVision clinic—physically connected to the ASC—to
create operational efficiencies and streamline patient flow between clinic and surgery.
• Work in partnership with clinic leadership to align staffing, scheduling, and resource planning
across both clinical and surgical settings.
High-Level Administration & Leadership
• Work closely with the Vice President of Operations to create clinical workflows, develop efficiency
metrics, and support overall ASC operations.
• Participate in Senior Leadership meetings to provide insight and updates on ASC performance at
a strategic level.
• Collaborate with the Vice President of Finance to develop and manage the ASC's annual staffing
and supply budgets.
Supply Management & Surgical Instruments
• Oversee all ordering and inventory of surgical supplies, medications, and clinical equipment,
ensuring appropriate stock levels for daily operations.
• Coordinate repairs and timely replacement of surgical instruments and equipment, including
tracking warranties, service contracts, and vendor communication.
• Evaluate supply usage patterns and implement cost-effective purchasing strategies in
partnership with vendors and finance teams.
• Ensure all surgical supplies and instruments meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Applicant Requirements
Licensure & Education
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alabama (or ability to obtain)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Experience
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an operating room setting
• Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in a surgical or ASC environment
• Prior ophthalmology or high-volume outpatient surgery experience strongly preferred
Skills & Attributes
• Strong understanding of ASC clinical operations and surgical nursing best practices
• Working knowledge of physician preferences for surgical procedures and instrumentation
