Job description

Reports to: School Programs Director

Impact Family Counseling is seeking to hire outgoing and hardworking individuals to work as Behavioral Aides in our therapeutic day school. In collaboration with a team of Special Educators, Social Workers, and other Behavioral Aides, individuals in this position would provide academic and behavioral support to K-12 students presenting with various disorders (including ASD, ADHD, ODD, and IED). This would be an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking a career in special education, behavioral health, or mental health fields.

Job Description:

  • Work in a therapeutic school with Special Education students in a small group setting and one-on-one

  • Assist teachers/administrators in implementing goals of student’s IEP by providing behavioral and academic support

  • Provide crisis intervention in response to aggressive or self-injurious behavior

  • Provide basic living skills and social skills training as needed

  • Provide daily behavior assessment and student documentation

  • Report to Supervisor as requested

Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with at-risk youth and children with emphasis on individuals with special needs

  • Training in nonviolent crisis intervention techniques, de-escalation strategies, and appropriate physical restraint

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport easily with students, co-workers, parents, etc.

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Be able to maintain confidentiality when carrying out all job duties

  • Must possess strong organizational skills and be able to multitask

  • Be flexible and work as part of a team

  • CPR or other certifications?

  • Physical capabilities (standing, lifting, restraining, etc.)?

Work Schedule: 7:30-3:30, Monday-Friday, according to school calendar and schedule

Salary: Hourly rate (Contract Position)
