All Veterans and Families of Veterans: Please join the VHMC Vet Connect group in Tyson Hall on Thursday, October 8, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, as Janet Taylor talks about the remarkable life and career of her dad, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient General Louis H. Wilson Jr. USMC. General Wilson received the Medal of Honor in 1945 for action on Guam in WWII. After the war he remained in the service and in 1975 was appointed as the 26th Commandant of the Marine Corps. In 2016 the Secretary of the Navy proposed that a Navy destroyer bear his name. In 2026, Janet, as sponsor of the ship, christened the USS Louis H. Wilson Jr. (DDG 126) in Bath, Maine.
