About Us
Born in Selma, AL in 1972 and raised in Southern California, Chef Terrill Brazelton’s life has revolved around food. From early on his family’s love of great food and wine has helped shape his outlook and approach to food. Growing up at his grandmother’s apron strings when visiting Gulfport, MS and Auburn, AL instilled the importance of letting fresh food speak for itself. Living in Southern California for over a decade provided him a wide range of culinary experiences that helped further shape his view of local ingredients and how to appreciate them. After returning to the South to finish high school, Terrill was brought back to his culinary roots. While in college at Auburn University he worked at several popular local restaurants, including a well-known pizzeria that ultimately launched his love affair with pizza.
He met his wife, Ashley, in 2002 and after the tragic passing of one of his best friends, Robert Hawkins, the opportunity became available for him to take over the Open Door Cafe (ODC) in Crestline Park. Together he and his wife ran this little neighborhood gem and this cemented their love and passion for the restaurant business. The ODC was known for its eclectic vibe, warm and cozy atmosphere, and great musical acts including the great jazz musician, Cleveland Eaton. They had both of their kids, Carter and Asher, during this time. In 2011, Terrill was again brought back to his love for pizza and was able to bring his fine dining experiences to create what he called “chef inspired pizza”.
