Ammie Akin is a career educator with 22 years of experience, including 18 in school leadership. She has served as teacher, administrator, assistant superintendent, college professor, and most recently Interim Superintendent of Briarwood Christian School. A graduate of The University of Alabama with a doctorate from Samford, Ammie has taught at UAB and Samford, developed literacy programs used statewide, and trained aspiring principals and superintendents through UA’s Superintendents’ Academy. Today, she and her husband, Will, are leading Hub in the Hills, repurposing a former school into a center for nonprofits. Its first resident, Unless U, serves adults with developmental disabilities, continuing Ammie’s commitment to helping students and families thrive.
