Mark’s Outdoors, Vestavia Hills’ longtime hometown outdoor retailer, is proud to continue its longstanding Take a Kid Fishing Day tradition with a fun-filled event on Saturday, June 27 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the store. The free community event aims to introduce children to the joys of fishing, the outdoors, and conservation in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.
Event Highlights Include:
- The first 200 kids under 15 will receive a free rod & reel combo, along with a free tackle box and tackle
- Knot tying station and fishing tips from experienced anglers
- Food, giveaways, and plenty of family-friendly activities
- Special appearances and support from local partners:
- Vestavia Hills Police Department (VHPD)
- Vestavia Hills Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team
- Sr. Officer Charles “Chas” Moore with the Alabama Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
- The University of Alabama Bass Fishing Team (of which Mark’s Outdoors is the proud title sponsor)
- Doodles Ice Cream Truck
