SUMMARY:Mayor's Prayer Breakfast 2016
DESCRIPTION:This annual breakfast is one of the most well-attended and moving events in our city.  At this event\, dignitaries and local citizens come together to offer prayers for our world\, country\, state and city. \n\nThis year we are honored to have as our keynote speaker Liz Huntley. Liz grew up in the housing projects in Huntsville with her drug dealing parents. Her father was sent to prison and her mother committed suicide when Liz was five years old. With all odds stacked against her\, she had an opportunity to learn to read at a church kindergarten before she started to school where one of her many "angels" recognized the young Liz as a child with much potential. Liz says this teacher that encouraged her as a young first grader\, set her on a lifelong journey of learning and it was the crossroads in her life. Liz is a successful attorney with Lightfoot Franklin White LLC and also serves as a Trustee for Auburn University. She has an incredible story to share of perseverance and determination that you won't want to miss. Autographed copies of Liz's book\, More Than a Bird\, will be available for purchase in the lobby after the Prayer Breakfast (a portion of the proceeds will benefit Alabama School Readiness Alliance and Children's Village of Birmingham).\n\nTuesday\, April 26\, 2016\n\nBuffet opens at 7:00 am\; Program begins at 7:30 am\n\nVestavia Country Club\n\nTickets cost $20 each and must be purchased in advance.\n\nTickets purchased after Thursday\, April 21 will need to be picked up at the Chamber Office prior to the event.
